The Project
Cake Bake is a self initiated project. A visual recipe in a playful and pataphysical style. In this project, I toy with the conventions of reality, the nature and the behavior of things. It proposes imaginary solutions and rules governing the extraordinary.
The project combines the step by step structure of a cake recipe with some surrealistic transformations and a more tabletop visual language. It is a live action project with no 3D involved, just the magic of the physical world taken to its limit, where everything is possible.
The recipe is presented as a mechanical process. After assembing all the pieces, a press compresses the cake and we can see all the ingredients transformed into a terrazzo stone. The end of the video connects with the beginning where the video opens showing a pedestal, making the video work in a loop, supporting the idea of a mechanical and serialized process.
